Relieve stress & anxiety with Ayurveda & Kinesiology
Stress and anxiety can all affect us, both physically and emotionally, and in varying levels of severity. There is a difference between stress and anxiety, and knowing the difference is critical to your well-being.
Stress is your body's way of reacting to a threat or demand. Certain triggers can include a scenario or occurrence that makes you feel nervous or agitated. Anxiety, on the other hand, is a feeling of worry, restlessness or fear. Anxiety sometimes can occur as a reaction to stress, but it can emerge even without a stressor.
We all feel stressed and anxious at some point in our lives, and that’s normal. Stress and anxiety can at times encourage you to do tedious tasks like completing a project so you can make a deadline, or finishing things you'd rather not (but really should). But when unmanaged, they can disrupt your day-to-day life and can take a toll on your mental and physical health.
Ayurvedic principles state that the body and mind are reflections of each other --the causes of physical health problems stem from the mind and the byproducts of mental ailments are reflected in the physical body. The first approach in managing and responding to stress is to know and understand your body’s constitution, or dosha. The second one is to improve your body's coping ability which can be achieved through applying Ayurvedic techniques and making healthy lifestyle changes.

Ayurvedic & Kinesiology Techniques and Healthy Lifestyle Changes to Relieve Stress
Daily Routine
Daily routine, known as Dinacharya, can be a challenge when we are stressed, feeling time poor and over committed. Daily routine offers a solution to daily stressors as it take the time out of making decisions and gives it back to you. On a subconscious level, the body comes to rely on regularity and this allows you to feel more supported. Having daily habits such as eating, exercising and sleeping at the same time each day pacifies Vata dosha and offers nervous system support.
‘Healthy Habits Healthy Life’ is a 12 week program that supports you to develop your own personal Dinacharya and implement your habits through removing sabotage programs and a supportive like-minded community.
Receive Shirodhara Treatment
Shirodhara comes from the Sanskrit words shiro (head) and dhara (flow). The process starts with pouring warm oil over the forehead which creates a calming effect to the nervous system, and promotes healthy blood circulation. When herbs are added, shirodhara offers relief for migraines, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic stress. The mind and body relaxes at a deeper level.
Meditate
Bring a sense of calm and relaxation to your mind and body by spending 5 to 10 minutes of your day to meditate. You can do this first thing in the morning or before you go to bed. Find a space and sit quietly. If your schedule won’t allow it, you can spend five minutes in your working space and just be still. You can also take a short meditative walk during lunch breaks. Meditation can help clear your mind, keep your concentration sharp, normalize your blood pressure, and improve your mental and emotional state.
Regular Sleep
Sounds obvious, but at times we all need reminders at times. Sleep allows the mind and body to re-energize. It leaves you feeling alert and ready to face the day. It can also help the body stave off diseases and remain healthy. If you don't get adequate sleep, your brain cannot function properly thus making you unequipped to deal with stressful situations.
Find Your Tribe
Once you find the people that you connect with on a deeper level, you’re not only surrounded by a like-minded community but also, you have people to rely on no matter the circumstances. With this, you'll have increased confidence, knowing there’s support and care. This is part of creating a healthier psychological state, and a more present state of mind.
It is important to find a community that aligns with your values, goals and lifestyle. Check out my 12 week program, Healthy Habits Healthy Life, to join a supportive and like-minded community who are also inspired to a healthier, more radiant life.
Evolve Your Habits
One of the largest aspects of behavioural science focuses on our own habits. Habits are important to your health and well-being. They take up a huge portion of your life so once you make time to practice the right kind of habits, they will become second nature and breaking them can be quite impossible. Healthy habits reduce stress and anxiety, increase your quality of life and promote longevity.
Diet
The more stressed you are, the more crucial it is to choose foods that can aid you in combating your stress levels. Opt for light, well-cooked food and warm liquids. Make sure to eat slowly and consciously, and be mindful of what you’re eating. Avoid distractions – scrolling on your phone, watching the television or checking emails on your laptop. Having a healthy diet helps repair damaged cells, supports the immune system, and offers extra energy needed to cope with stressful events.
