About Me

Hi my name is Melissa and I am so glad your pathway has crossed mine! I am an Applied Kinesiologist, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Holistic Health Coach, Certified Embodied Flow Yoga Instructor and Permaculture Designer. I would love to share with you a little bit about myself and why I am inspired to do what I do!

Like so many of us, my upbringing was far from perfect and left me with some deep seated traumas and suppressed emotions. I placed these emotions in what I would describe as a steel ball which I tucked away at the back of my heart. The first thing I did when I graduated from university in 2010 was run overseas, thinking I could run away from my past and my emotions. But when I returned 2 years later, there they were, sitting there waiting for me!

I intuitively felt in my body that if left unprocessed, they would manifest into some kind of physical ailment. I knew there was no more hiding, I needed to build up courage to face what I was avoiding in my heart.

It all started with giving myself permission - permission to feel what I needed to feel, to deeply listen to myself and to give myself the time and space I truely needed. When I gave myself permission, so many wonderful resources fell into my lap. I read every book on self help and personal development that I could get my hands on. I reached out to different practitioners and alternative therapies and started to discover what really worked for me. I enrolled into a Diploma of Applied Kinesiology and Pranyama and Yoga Teacher Training. I did not know at this stage that I was going to become a therapist, I was seeking to study these disciplines to understand more of myself. As I become more and more embodied and aligned by releasing old emotions and karmic patterns, I knew I had to share what I had learnt.

After practicing as an Applied Kinesiologist for 7 years, I was drawn to study the ancient modality of Ayurvedic Medicine. I found kinesiology to be particularly amazing at clearing out stress from the emotional, mental and spiritual levels, but Ayurveda gave me more tools to support the physical body. Ayurveda taught me about dinyacharas (daily and seasonal practices), herbal medicine and nutrition. I found the combination of these two therapies to be potent.

Why Gaia Kin?

I have always held a deep connection and respect with mother nature. I feel it is my dharma to support others to reconnect to their higher self and in doing so, reconnect to their own sacred connection to Gaia. Just as every species has a specific niche to fill, I feel we as individuals have our own specific dharma to fill. When one walks the path of their higher self and fulfils their dharma, then a harmonic and beneficial relationship is created between the individual and their neighbours, their community and mother nature. We become co-creators with the natural order which supports biodiversity, abundance and peace. We thrive, and therefore nature thrives. To me, our personal healing is planetary healing.

My passion is to support you to awaken to your dharma and become more authentically YOU. I do this by supporting you to reclaim your power and sovereignty, reconnect to your heart guidance and through releasing negative emotional patterns through the use of Kinesiology and Ayurveda.
